Jamal Tylor
About Jamal Tylor

Jamal Tylor is a self-published author and U.S. Army veteran from Athens, Georgia. He served eight years and was awarded the Presidential Service Badge, the Armed Forces Service Medal, and the Honorable Order of St. Christopher.

Jamal is a short story author who focuses on novella-length works instead of long novels. His writing is simple, direct, and honest. It’s often reflective, vulnerable, and meant to make readers think. His work is part of his own healing and a way to express himself freely. He writes to help normalize mental health in the Black and veteran communities, especially for men. For him, this is a small way to give back and a way to continue serving.

His work has been recognized through the Indie Author Project, and two of his books are part of the Bilibo collection at the Richmond, Virginia public library. When he’s not writing, Jamal spends time with his family and two dogs. Most of his ideas come from real life and the things he’s lived through.
